Range burners work and the broil feature works as well. Internet says it's likely a dirty or faulty igniter or another switch near the igniter.

Only thing I know is that when I set a baking temperature, I will hear a click shortly after. Anyone familiar with this type of fix?

RESOLVED:

Part swap and we are good to go

What era is it?

2000? probably a $15 ignitor and a 10min swap.

2020? control board. $275. 6mo backorder. just buy a new oven.

Lower igniter is probably bad.

Bad igniter. Universal Square type will work. Part number.

Why would it be the control board if everything else works? I'm going to assume bad igniter since I'm guessing the clicking noise is the igniter itself not functioning properly.

The control board has 3 relays. They fail often. If the HV relay fails you'll hear a click but nothing happens usually because there is a burnt spot where the relay output pin is on the board. It's an easy fix if you solder but even easier to change out the board.

The proper procedure is to test for voltage to the igniter when turned on. If voltage present 99% of time is a bad igniter. If voltage not present is a bad control. You have a relay for bake, broil and one for the second leg. If bake and broil don't work is the second leg relay.
Also just because an igniter glows doesn't mean it's good. It has to draw 3.2 amps of current to open the safety valve. This should happen in 45 seconds or less. So many times we have glowing igniter but they only draw 2.5 -3 amps and the oven either never lights or takes minutes to light.

Gotcha. Makes sense.

I'm going to run with a bad igniter and replace that. Part coming in Wednesday for only $18. If it's not that then I'll go with the control board.

Be careful with the igniter ceramic. If you look at it wrong it'll break. Make sure it's in one piece before you install it. If it's the universal type only use the ceramic wire nuts with no electric tape.

Are there already wire nuts inside? I can't imagine those withstanding the oven temperatures.

Yes if it's universal it will come with ceramic wire nuts. They are rated to 2500°F. They are fine in an oven.

We'll see. I spent a pretty penny on this thing so hopefully it works out.

I have a whirlpool oven that is no longer made. The board was bad and I had it repaired and changed top and bottom heating elements in the oven. It doesn't get over 350 on bake. Any suggestions.

Replaced the bottom igniter and works like a charm. $17 part from Amazon, 30 minutes of kneeling and losing screws and we have a working oven that is barely two years old.
