Exactly. The trinity is mans teachings.

Mt. 3:16 Jesus was just baptized, the holy spirit descended in the form of a dove & then a voice in heaven said this is my Son, the beloved, whom I approved. They are separate.

Matthew and Luke plagiarized this from Mark. Most scholars believe this reading is not the original - that it has been edited. Scholars believe it is supposed to be like Psalm 2 “you are my son, today I have begotten you”.

Psalm 2
quote:

I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you.

In Acts 13:13 the composer of Luke wrote:
quote:

this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second Psalm, “‘You are my Son, today I have begotten you.’

Hebrews 1:5
quote:

For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son”?

Hebrews 5:5
quote:

So also Christ did not exalt himself to be made a high priest, but was appointed by him who said to him, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you

It would be no problem for early Christians to believe in the supreme god Theos/El Elyon and his unique son and angel named Yahweh who became flesh so that he could be sacrificed. It was no problem that El Elyon begat (made/created) Jesus. It is later Christians who tried to adopt the Torah (same Torah that Paul rejected) who tried to adopt the idea of a single god. They have 3 gods, but there’s only one god. How did they resolve it 400 years later? Say there’s 3 persons in one god! It doesn’t need to make sense, because it is a “mystery”. Those later Christians scholars believe edited Mark, Matthew, and Luke to try to hide the fact that Jesus was separate and created, but they forgot about Acts 13:13 and the references in Hebrews.

The name "Trinity" to describe the doctrine of the triunity of God is man's word (the word is not found in the Bible), but the doctrine the word describes certainly is in the Bible and it describes the one essence of God in three persons.

In Matthew 3:16, you do, indeed, see the different persons of the Trinity in action. They are not separate gods, but separates persons of the Godhead, which is the singular God.
