She was out numbered and out gunned. If she had been carrying and tried to defend herself either she would be dead or if she pulled it out after they turned their back and killed a couple she would be going to prison.

These people arent exactly known for their intelligence or strength. They'll run.

What is the likelihood these thugs would pull up if she had a man with her, and if the firearms laws in Chicago were different (not knowing who might be packing or not).
Even a car of armed thugs will only look for the softest, easiest of targets.
Now lets pretend we lived in a world where the citizens of Chicago wanted this to stop. It would be very easy, round all these thugs up that night, and place them in the penitentiary for 20 years+ or better yet take them to a cornfield somewhere in northwest Indiana.
