Does if have to be something from the CNS that you eat, like the brain or bone marrow or can you get it from cooked deer backstrap?
I would think if you can get it from cooked deer meat there would be way more cases than 1 out 1 million.

Probably correct. But you really won’t be certain for 30 years.

If it's like every other prion disease, it has to have CNS material. The problem with Mad Cow was that the UK was still including it in ground beef and other processed meats at the time, as well as feeding it to the cows, exponentially worsening the outbreak.

Yes. Brain or spinal cord. POSSIBLY major nerves.
Bone marrow should be fine.
