Before anyone misses my point entirely and says something like "No shite, obviously letting more teams in the playoffs mean shittier teams will make it in".

The committee / AP pollsters obviously *generally* look highly upon our program.

When we lost to FSU, we were the highest ranked 1 loss team. (AP)

When we lost to Ole Miss, we were the highest ranked 2 loss team. (AP) and highest ranked 2 loss team going into the game. (CFP)

When we lost to Alabama, we are now the highest ranked 3 loss team not even two weeks later. (CFP).

The 12-team playoff does give an edge to *good* teams that are often bottle-necked from entering their respective conference championships because of super tough games within their division. Think Alabama for LSU, OSU for Michigan/Penn St., Clemson/FSU for each other (depending on the year). No matter how many games LSU wins, if they don't beat Alabama, they likely aren't in the SEC championship and are therefore likely left out of the 4-team CFP (this is a hypothetical I realize it hasn't perfectly shaken out this way before, but yes I realize a 1-loss SEC non-champion would always have a good case, but my point is that in a 4-team playoff, it's not guaranteed.)

For the OSUs-Georgia-Alabama's of the world, yes, the 12-team may not make a difference, but for some of us fringe teams, it's a massive difference, and virtually guarantees we'll have a fighting chance to make it even with 3 losses in some cases. Hell, if there was a 12-team playoff this year, we'd have an okay chance at making it if some people were to lose in front of us.

Will keep the season truly exciting even post some week 1 or Alabama losses

Edit: In before, "bro just don't lose 3 games a year" or "bro just don't lose to Alabama" Wow, great objection, I hadn't thought of that one

I cannot wait for the 12 team playoff next year. Those on-campus opening round matchups are going to be incredible.

LSU would be no lock to make a 12 team playoff this year

I really don’t understand why people think that a 12 team playoff will solve anything. It won’t. The NCAA basketball tournament includes 64 teams. And every year the team that thinks they were probably the number 65 teams kicks and screams they were cheated.

It's a good point; LSU is usually what you'd call 'first among equals'.

The problem is, conference expansion is going to screw a bunch of teams. SEC adding Texas and Oklahoma, Big 10 adding the power teams from the Pac 12; they're going to beat each other up, and teams like Fla State or Clemson will probably still cruise through the ACC. If they're both good, they're both gonna make it, because the worse of the 2 will likely have 1-2 losses, and will be an at-large. Oregon or Texas might be able to beat them (or LSU), but may have 3 losses.

And don't forget, it isn't Top 12, it's top 6 conference champs, and 6 at-large teams. Good chance a 2 loss power team will be left out for the Sun Belt champ that they'd kill 99 times out of 100.

Always been for this. 12 team playoff gets us in there more years than not. Once you are in anything can happen.

If they are going to have this many teams in playoffs they need to reduce regular season back to 10 games. Of course money dictates this will never happen. Is this college or semi-pro minor leagues? Too many games over a longer period of time. Football is not baseball or basketball where you can have multiple games in a week.

We have made than almost every year but a few in last 20 or so as historically we are a top 10-12 team , but it will really benefit everyone as this bullshite block that Alabama and others have on the playoffs by using everything at their disposal to dominate their conference is coming to an end.

For example, the year that auburn beat Alabama be the SEC West champion all went to lose to Georgia, because of injured players in Alabama went on to eventually win the national championship. But more importantly, they had to go through a stretch of 3 to 4 weeks of playing very tough ranked teams in which they could not Survive. LSU, Miss State, Auburn etc.

Injuries, fatigue, luck, being up every week etc will take their toll. You’re going to see significantly more upset than we have in the current system which allows the best teams to essentially get a month and a half to rest and get everybody healthy etc.

I do believe this will help LSU get into a tournament on a very regular basis.

Better get the Defense sorted out or that all may change quickly.
