Hey Everyone!

I've been reading up on the great hospitality of LSU tailgates and cannot wait for my buddies and I to experience a SEC Saturday.

I'm the best man and have planned an entire bachelor party weekend revolving around the LSU football game. My buddy's entire family is from Louisiana and he is a huge LSU fan but he has never had the opportunity to experience an LSU football game.

We are staying in NOLA Thursday night and then driving up Friday and have an Air Bnb a few miles from campus for a few nights.

We are flying in from all over the country so we obviously wont be bringing a bunch of tailgating supplies

As of now the plan is to bring a couple disposable coolers with loads of drinks and just walk around campus/tailgating. There are 6 of us.

I've read that a good place to be dropped off would be Dalrymple and Highland via Uber/Lyft and just walk around campus from there.

Is it really true the best course of action is to find a giant tailgate and go up to them and talk to them?

As the username may suggest, we are all SDSU alumni and although our football team is a bit of an embarrassment at the moment, I've read that people suggest wearing SDSU gear or colors so that other tailgaters might recognize us from this post and invite us over. But also dont want to look ridiculous walking around in red and black instead of supporting the Tigers.

Also, I was wondering if there would be any suggestions for a great place to hang out and have a great time Friday night as we have no plans as of now.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and GEAUX TIGERS!

Tigerland is a big bunch of bars for Friday night. Fred’s is the best in my opinion.
Hope that helps.

Yes do this. Walk over to a person around a big pot and ask what they are cooking, that’s always a great ice breaker. Tell your story, offer them a drink (just to be polite and they will take you in). Especially look for grills will alligators on them.

Another good tip is go swing by a daiquiri shop and get a large one in a big styrofoam cup right before heading to campus to walk around with (can add an extra shot). There’s a few around campus and you can take them to go

Still bring some beers for later, but you won’t have to bring near as much since the daiqs will last you for a few hours and get you trending in the right direction

Have fun, I’ll be on the lookout for some red and black

Better than Ezra is playing on the lawn at L’Auberge Casino Friday night. That should be a good time if you enjoy their music.

Yes.

And no, I'm not just messing with you.

Wear you gear and walk up to tailgates and introduce yourself. Explain that it's your first time and explain that it's your buddy's bachelor party/game trip, you'll be welcomed with open arms. Seriously. Just be polite.

You'll be offered a lot of food, drink..... should be an awesome time for you.

As a life long LSU fan, I wish I could relive my first game in tiger stadium. The first time you see those 100k seats cheering for the purple and gold… goosebumps thinking about it.
I’m jealous your buddy has that experience upcoming for him.

Should be a phenomenal experience for you guys. We hosted a crew with UCONN gear on one game. They were great guests and wanted to know everything about tiger traditions. They even got our address and mailed us a thank you package with some cool stuff from Connecticut. If you are hosted by a good group, I’d try to get their address and do the same. I’d recommend seeing the team come down the hill, and be in the stadium early enough to see the team take the field.

Please come back after the game and post about what everyone thought. I personal love hearing about the experience from first timers.

Look on Facebook for Unsupervised Tailgating - TUB. Touchdown Village spot 427 I think.

They posted that they are open to people joining them.

Definitely wear your SDSU gear. If you get dropped off around Skip Bertman Dr, I will invite you over for food and drinks.

For your ages, definitely do the Better Than Ezra outdoor show at L’Auberge. No bachelor party concludes without some casino action.

These guys stopped in my tailgate for some food and drink sat, looked like they were having a good time. Can we get a post game report? What did you like, not like? Best part?
