BRPD Chief applicant lied on application

The City of Baton Rouge is on the hunt for a new Chief of Police after Chief Murphy Paul announced his retirement. Deputy Chief Myron Daniels submitted his application for the position along with 19 others, but at least one of his answers on the application may be inaccurate according to records obtained by Unfiltered with Kiran.
quote:
The application was turned over to the Chief Selection Committee. Deputy Chief Daniels submitted additional information to the Mayor’s Advisory Committee in his application for Chief of Police. The additional information asked if Deputy Chief Daniels had been party to any civil or criminal action.
On Oct. 20th, he answered “no” to the question. However, records uncovered by UWK show that Deputy Chief may have inaccurately answered this question. There are several lawsuits where he is named as a plaintiff or a defendant, some as recently as August and September 2023 in connection to the Brave Cave.

If Daniels intentionally answered the question wrong knowing that answer was not true, there could be legal implications under La. R.S. 14:132 (Injuring Public Records), La. R.S. 14:133 (Filing or maintaining false public records), La. R.S. 14:134 (Malfeasance in office), and/or La. R.S. 14:123 (Perjury).

They certainly won't hire the most qualified candidate.
I have 18 months left here. I cannot wait to move.

Y’all know that question contained too many words for Myron to comprehend. That’s racist.

I figured that lying about something as important as that would leapfrog him to the front of the line, and make him the lead horse

Seems like he would fit right in as the BRPD Chief.

They will retire him with his full pension for the rest of his life. It's what govt does for other govt employees

Does anything every happen with unfiltered stuff or is it just a mini form of Washington DC where its a whoopsy daisy and push it under the rug?

This might be one reason Murphy Paul is delaying his departure.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the original plan was for Paul to leave office this week, and appoint Myron Daniels as interim Chief, thus giving him the inside track to getting the job permanently.
Now that Daniels has hit a roadblock, Murphy Paul ain’t going nowhere until he and the Mayor come up with a Plan B.

Kiran thinking she's got something here but this is exactly the type of behavior we are looking for in the next chief.

Criminal charges? Please. Requires intent. C'mon Kiran.

So you’re telling me it was a mistake? Or that he was not smart enough to know what the question meant? Oh- wait. You may be right. Carry on.

So you think it's a valid argument that he FORGOT that he has sued or been sued 10 freaking times?
Because that's what you're saying. He had no intent to lie because he forgot 10 freaking court cases.

Legit question: When were the applications submitted? Because if those attachments to civil or criminal actions came after he submitted his app, then at least he's not lying about those (although the article is worded as if there are others, which would obviously trigger a "yes" answer for that question anyway.
And that gif above is fantastic. The morale pole at the end is icing on the cake.
