I am excited about pitching so far. If Ack and Little are this good next year, we will be really good. I understand they are not likely Friday/Saturday guys due to the talent we have. I expect good things from the likes of Hurd, Holman,Loer and the kid Cam Johnson that might be the best of all the talented arms we have. But guys like Ack and Little could make us a very deep pitching team. And we know Jay will field a good hitting team.
It is crazy to think about the potential of this team after the amount of talent that just left for the bigs!

Stats wise just this fall Nippolt seems to be the front runner,
Maybe I'm missing something but based on stats so far this fall he still cant hit. I have him down for 5 for 29 (.172) with no extra base hits.
I just dont think he's really in the conversation to start because frankly I don't think Jay would ever sacrifice that much offense for defense especially at a place like 2B. I mean we saw him playing a gimpy Dugas over Nippolt all last season pretty much

I just see Nippolt as that permanent defensive bench replacement to use as needed in a role like that. Thats what he is on a team as talented as ours.

Now look at the stats of everyone else they are looking at for 2B not including the OFs.
That is what I meant by he is the front runner. Also like I mentioned, I agree he is a bench player and cannot be in the lineup daily to make an Omaha run.
Best case scenario for 2B is Guidry or Milam will take a step and be able to handle the position come spring. If that doesn't happen, the shuffling of the OF will have to happen.

Things are still early for Guidry and Milam and if they dont take the spot over I feel confident in saying Jay would much rather start Pearson or Kling there (like hes been playing there recently) and get another talented bat OF out there than settle for Nippolt at 2B.

Won the natty with that "massive hole" hitting bombs, getting HBP, and taking 10 pitch walks. I'd prefer to have LeMahieu, but I'd take Dugas
No shite. I'm not trying to shite on what Dugas did for the team last year. However, I would ideally like to not have to move our SS to play 2B before we believe it's more likely a ball goes to 2B and we need somebody who can cover a little ground to field it.

if Jones can't improve his SO numbers, who do we see battling for 1st?
