this is correct.

manufacturers give volume/time rebates to dealers.

no dealership on the planet is going to make a sale that “loses money” after accounting for rebates and bonuses.

But the sales people sure get paid accordingly. Mini commissions galore for sales people that put up with being labeled a scumbag, talked down to and lied to.

Yep. No matter how good a deal anyone thinks they got, money was made by everyone in the chain.
