Gun isn't the problem here.

Go ahead and shoot the mom. Save some long term pain before she breeds again

I do know Gun safety. And these parents were not following those safety rules. It’s negligent leaving that crap out. Because this happens.

Bingo

I have several guns that are strategically placed in certain places around my house, upstairs and downstairs.

I’m never more than just as few feet from a pistol or shotgun. All my other guns are in a couple safes.

Do you think everyone should have all of their firearms unloaded and in a safe?

I think if you have young children you should. There are plenty of small safes with fingerprint access that suffice. leaving a loaded gun accessible to a toddler is negligent if you've ever had a toddler in your home.

no, it's not. And if you think it is, you very clearly don't have children

This irritates me way more than it should

‘BREAKING’…… so the f*** what?? This isn’t national news nor should it even be local news. Just a tragedy for the family to deal with personally

I wouldn't keep loaded guns around kids younger than a teenager. Why? because kids do dumb shite all the time

Depends on the age of the children, how they were raised, their experience with guns, etc.

I got a .22 Rifle when I was a very young boy. I could take it into my grandparents woods (few hundred acres) and shoot it, whenever I chose, from probably the age of 11 or 12. I had it in my closet and bought any ammo I used with my allowance. This wasn’t irresponsible of my parents, I was a good shot and knew how to safely handle the rifle. I would never have pointed it at anyone or let someone else get it or use it, especially small kids. It was always unloaded when in storage.

You do you.

I'm addressing the idea that no one should have loaded and unlocked firearms in their homes "PERIOD. Baby or not."

sorry. you're not even close. I have kids. I've been through every stage with them. Guns were never a taboo thing in my household.

Modern biometric safes are very quick to open. No reason not to have a gun either on your person or in a safe. Just leaving a gun out is lazy and negligent.

I will thanks. I have a not small cache of firearms. But no I don't just leave loaded firearms all around my house where my kids could pick it up to see how it works. I have them in a safe where they belong. I have one that is left loaded and locked in a small safe by my bed for easy access
