Rats and snakes

Seem to have a huge problem at my house with these two. Garter snakes every time I go outside and each year around this time of year we run into rats in the attic. Had a garter snake make its way into the house recently. We live near the levee in Metairie and we have a ton of major holes under the concrete carport, concrete porch and patios, and under the slab itself. I have bait traps in attic with a camera set to try to figure out where the rats are entering. I suspect from plumbing under the house? Was thinking maybe sand pumping back filling under the house could help eliminate the tunnels these pests have created?
Thoughts? Should I just burn the house down? So sick of this shite. Miserable

Do you have trees close to your roof? If not the rats are getting in by climbing up your walls. I’d put poison boxes on the 4 corners of your house if not more often than not and check them every month or so.

They make a product called “Snake Away (or they used to). I’ve also heard moth balls help but no experience with either

#1 The snakes are there for the food source (rats). So don't worry about them. Get rid of the rats and the snakes will go elsewhere when they don't have any food.
#2 Poison is the only way to truly get rid of them. I know this from experience. If that is not a not an option due to pets or neighborhood animals you don't want to take a chance on poisoning, then your only other good option is an outside cat.

Moth balls do work but you can't just scatter them in the attic due to the toxic fumes permeating your house.
They are only good for a concentrated area where you or your pets don't have to breathe the fumes.

Don’t think the garter snakes are there for the rats.

The biggest thing they eat are frogs. I could see them chowing on a small mouse, but not a rat.
