Was at the bar in Jubans just this week around 4pm. Took about 5 minutes before a bartender came out to take a drink order, and then proceeded to go on break and pass me off to another bartender who wasn’t even dressed for work. Appepitizer came out quick but was bland.
I’ve had chicken entrees that came out raw in the last two months. Just really basic stuff that they are failing at.

Juban's (the old restaurant 83-early 00s) was a family restaurant, operated to make you feel welcomed and your experience to be special. That's what it was originally created to be by the people that opened it. Even working there felt like a family. Expansion and different "philosophies" changed that in the 10s.
In 09 one side of the family of Jubans basically kicked out the other. It’s been downhill ever since.

I know this thread is about Jubans.. but we we went to Ruffino’s this week and the food was awful.
Veal parm was so tough I had to send it back. My wife’s got a filet and it was very rare and we asked them to fire it back up for her.
The food there has severely gone down hill. It’s just hard to justify a 100-200$ dinner that sucks.

Service at Juban’s is terrible. The old female manager is worthless

It’s was a money grab with no ownership accountability. But now hopefully it will come back to the quality and experience we remember.

I had my rehearsal dinner there in 2004. It was fantastic. Sad to hear about the downfall.

Jubans is one of the finest spots we have in Baton Rouge. Stop comparing it to places in major cities.
I haven’t tried the new Jubans, but why shouldn’t we compare our restaurants with restaurants in the larger cities?
I love Gino’s and I have had no better Italian anywhere for instance. French Market’s CG oysters are outstanding. The Chimes has awesome crayfish etoufee. Our Chris’ is A+.

I do know he’s married to Mrs Juban’s daughter, so I’m guessing he’s not out.
Yeah, Mike had a piece of Juban’s before the group bought in.

Just goes to show you how subjective things can be.
I have had 2 completely awful experiences at Ruth's in BR and will never return. That place has taken a turn for the worse.
Larger cities tend to have more talent to choose from and better clientele.

Love Jubans but no restaurant is better since pre-Covid IMHO. Eating out is a crap shoot anywhere these days.
Went to Drago’s last weekend. May try it again in 12-28 months. Just not worth it, like eating out in many full service restaurants.

There’s a rumor running around Lafayette that Juban’s bought the Cafe V property.
Haven’t eaten at Juban’s in years and am disappointed to hear the lackluster reviews here. I will say, though, my first response to the Juban’s rumor was “I would have preferred Mansurs.”
