It’s fricking stupid! MLB may dictate during the playoffs but there was zero reason for the roof to be closed for Texans-Saints game yesterday

Hysterical to me they spend millions on these stadiums to have retractable roofs and then never open them

Ok? It’s louder in Houston with the roof closed than it would be if it were open.

It’s to be able to have a natural grass playing surface. Being able to open during nice weather is just lagniappe.

Like many have said its up to the MLB. The Rangers have basically the same stadium and the MLB made them close the roof when it was 82 outside against the Os. Its bull, but it will require the teams to fight back in the future.

Buffalo is smart building an outdoor stadium with no roof so NFL can’t keep it shut in snowy weather. Thats how you cure it.

But I understand stadiums do concerts and many other events and need a roof for most of them.

I don’t know that they ever open the roof of the Mercedes here in Atlanta.
Complete waste of money spent in retractable roof.

You're talking to an Aggie. That's a good luck wish, not an insult.

How would we know since they never leave it open? There are plenty of outdoor stadiums that are very loud at best you are talking about a marginal difference.

It’s not hilarious it’s corrupt. It’s what happens when someone else aka the tax payers are paying for it, like Milton Friedman said, “if you’re paying I’ll have the lobster”

I think they had it open last week against the Texans.

Boeing newest plane - C747 is very reflective when flying under moon light. So much to the point it can triangulate the light downward causing temporary blindness for those looking up. Could be an issue for a live game, or someone batting. This seems to be a measure to reduce this problem.

Took the executive tour of the stadium shortly after it opened as a part of my MBA program with UNT. The guy who did it was over operations and he told us, they will do everything they can not to open it and that most stadiums will because of the hassle to get it closed in the event ANY kind of weather happens, the time it takes that stops play and with older retractables like NRG, that there could be issues due to the older tech to open it and it getting stuck and it being an embarrassment.

Honestly, I don't know one that is open often. I think that maybe the only thing I liked about So-Fi, it isn't open roof or retractable, but its open air, through the top on one side, so no weather will enter the stadium but you get a nice breeze from the Pacific when its cool. Everything else in there sucked except very good sight lines from everywhere.
