You can thank our idiots in government. While our legislature is mostly Republican and full of morons, local big city municipalities are Democrat run. Short sightedness, no forward thinking is endemic of LaDOTD, and every DOTD secretary has higher political aspirations so they are looking for a homerun prestigious project to use for their future runs to say, "i built the bridge", when the bridge isn't needed or does not alleviate traffic issues. I'm not all in on open carry. On the one hand, constitutionally we should all be able to carry. And to protect oneself against the animals in placed like New orleans, you can't wait for the police who don't give a shite. But, that being said, we have an overly stupid populace. I don't trust most of the idiots in this state to hold a dog leash, nonetheless hold a sidearm.
