A question better asked of Zhukov. Patton was an open-field guy.

Gotten in a jeep wreck and died after he plowed through Gaza and then said we need to keep going West through Syria all the way to Iran.

Worked for US Grant.

By the way, the human (non-combatant) casualties for Normandy was described as "horrific".

By the way, Patton was not at the Normandy invasion.

This is what needs to be done. No mercy. There are no innocent civilians. They are all terrorists. Unconditional surrender.

The invasion was just the beginning. After that was the invasion of Normandy that, according to Smithsonian took 58 days and Patton was involved... at least according to what I watched and was told. I don't think he fought there all the time as he had another mission but I was told he was there.

The fighting for Normandy was described as horrific

Patton would walk artillery up and down gaza and then send in troops to mop up what the artillery didn't get. He would be methodical, and ruthless.

Normandy had tons of battles, but the main ugly ones on D Day were Omaha Beach, Point Du Hoc, and wherever the paratroopers got scattered such as San Mere Iglaise, IIRC.

There were still some bad ones afterward such as when we were going through Bocage country. Very low visibility due to all the hedges everywhere.
