First 2 names comming out of Tiger Land. Who would you perfer?
With Chavis you get experience and a guy who has a proven track record.
With Ogeron you get the intense DC that I think we need plus a great recruiter. But the doesn't have the resume of Chavis.
I'm mixed on this one, what do you think?

The rumor is we are getting both
Can they all work together? Staff chemistry?
Chavis DC
Coach O is DL and recruiting coordinator.
The Louisiana fence will reach the sky if Coach O is hear to help

Ogeron- recruits well not a very good coach IMO.
Chavis- Had successfull SEC defenses.
Do we need help with recruiting?
Logical pick is Chavis.

You talking about as a DC? Chavis, no contest. Orgeron even knows he would be no good as a DC right now.

I thought Chavis ran a soft zone defense....why would we want that?

I'd rather not have Orgeron anywhere around Baton Rouge. He was DC at USC when they were an offensive powerhouse, but couldn't stop anybody. He was absolutly horrific at Ole Miss, and now he's the DL coach in New Orleans where most of their DL is getting busted for using banned substances. I'd perfer he stay away. We don't seem to have a problem recruiting so I would say thanks, but no thanks.

He was dline coach and recruiting coordinator, not DC.

Yeah, it's his fault.

Disagree completely. A coach like Orgeron is exactly what this team needs. Someone who will get in their face and pump them up. The guy can recruit with the best of them. Look what he was put together at Ole Miss. Ole Miss will be preseason favorites to win the West next year. Don't just think we are going to recruit well because we have done it in the past. There are obviously holes on this current team
It would be a huge coup if Miles can get Orgeron here as the DL coach and recruiting coordinator.
Read the advocate this morning. O would come if presented the right offer. This is on Miles now.

No one is talking about O being DC, its not a vs. arguement. It's a proven DC with a proven DL coach and recruiter coming on board. There is nothing "CO" about it, everyone knows their role. i think if all parties can just get along, it will benefit the LSU program tremendously.

I'm going with Orgeron as my choice, as if I actually had one.
In any case, I think Coach Orgeron would be a VERY aggressive DC, and would lock up this state with Saban looking to capitalize on our situation as well as his connections here and reputation. WE NEED THAT. In addition, we don't want Coach Orgeron on UT's side either.
I think Coach Orgeron is the best fit possible in my estimation. It feels right. The only problem I see with Coach Orgeron is how he and Miles would get along, and would they butt heads or would Miles leave the Defense alone for O to operate and focus his efforts on suring up that O-line, assisting in the offense, and just managing the operation rather than micro-managing things to freaking death.
That's my biggest problem with Coach Orgeron. Not that he can't load this program up, lock down the state, and be extremely aggressive as a DC, but can he and Miles get along?

He wasn't the DC at USC, he was the D-Line coach
USC's Rushing Defense rank while Orgeron coached the D-Line
2002: 6th in the country
2003: 1st
2004: 1st
yeah, they couldn't stop anybody
