Actually, a grind it out prolonged war with Israel could benefit Iran - exploding oil and gas prices. Can the West’s economies handle $200 - $300 per barrel? There would be an energy crisis which would seriously impact the West’s economies. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised to see China move on Taiwan if Iran opens a front and force the US to commit to Asia. Also, if US enters against Iran, wouldn’t surprise to see N Korea move in South Korea. Can the US fight and fund four land wars? Europe is a basket case after Ukraine, so only The UK and Australia can be counted on to help US. Probably not so we’re looking nukes potentially.

Can't really capitalize on them when Israel bombs their entire petroleum infrastructure to ribbons. Almost every drop of their oil goes through Kharg Island, which would be easy pickings. It would take them a decade to rebuild it.
