I don't know if it is BS or not, but I knew a lot of people in the Army with 6 or more. If you did a full career and it spanned from 2000 forward, there's not a bad chance you did 6.
Hell, I did 3 and I was fortunate to avoid 2 just by dumb luck.

well to be fair Marines only do 4 month deployment cycles. they don't have the same capabilities of the US Army Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
so 2 Marine deployment is considered 1 Army combat tour. my unit from the 101st did 15 months in Afghanistan. that is like three Marine deployments.
