I’ve not been so can’t offer tips there, but those I know that have been said it’s very underwhelming. They described the lights as faint, silvery clouds. Allegedly the brights greens/purples only really show up when looking through a camera.

Oh no. Not when you get a full sky display. Its surreal, and vivid.

It is very hit or miss from my experience. But when it is on it is amazing. Definitely should be prepared to possibly be disappointed though

We stayed up in Denali Park at Princess Lodge there. Remember seeing all road signs in Japanese and was told they are fascinated with northern lights and come often.
