Update: another night of 2-3 hours of terrible sleep. No alcohol whatsoever and took some melatonin but to no avail. Just another night thinking and thinking and thinking. One of my kids was at a friends house so I tried to sleep in his room for a change of pace but all for naught. I tried the ‘body scan relaxation’ method but kept getting caught up with the fact I couldn’t relax my neck for some reason. Also tried some focused breathing, including one where you breath in for 4 seconds, hold it for 7, then blow out for 8. Nothing. Finally got up to do some dishes at about 2:30 and finally fell asleep about 4am. Then the alarm for work went off at 615.
Now to boot, I appeared to have gotten a sinus infection or bronchial infection so that’s awesome.
I found an online doc called PlushCare that can prescribe Trazodone like same day. I’m gonna try that. Got a zoom appt at 10am.
Hopefully it works. Because seriously- I feel like death is imminent and it’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to me in my life.

My friends! I’m very proud to announce to you all that I got about 10 hours of sleep last night. I had a teledoc appt yesterday and the doc prescribed hydroxyzine. I don’t really understand how it works but holy shite, it knocks your arse out. This morning I feel groggy and almost like a hangover but I think that may legit be symptoms of just not getting enough sleep. Either way, I will gladly take it over no sleep.
Does anyone here have any experience with this medication? Because if not, I wholeheartedly recommend. He said it works a little different than trazodone as it also attacks the anxiety portion of insomnia while also acting a bit like the family of Benadryl.
Regardless I feel sooooo much better. I sincerely thank you all for your advice and I hope anyone else going thru similar situations was able to take something away from all this.
