I have had a problem like yours. My big issues were waking up after less than a hour of sleep as if I took a nap and I’m ready to get up and waking up early around 3:00AM and not being able to push worrying thoughts out of my mind. Two suggestions.
1. Look on Amazon for “ Life Extension Neuro-mag Magnesium L-threonate, Magnesium L-threonate, Brain Health, Memory & Attention, Gluten Free, Vegetarian, Non-GMO, 90 Vegetarian Capsules”. You take 3 of these an hour or so before bedtime and it’s really helped me with not waking up after an hour or so of sleep and not getting back to sleep. Some people say L-threonate gives them night terrors. With this supplement, I had some negative dreams like death of a sibling etc but nothing I would call a night terror.
2. Find a podcast or YouTube video to listen to. When I wake up around 3:00AM and feel my mind beginning to race with thoughts of work, family, etc, I play one of these and fall back to sleep eventually. Music didn’t work for me because my brain didn’t actively engage in the music. Listening to someone talk, especially telling a story, engages my mind and I can’t think about work while paying attention to a storyteller. I really like videos on YT from “WW2 Stories.” They are usually long, the speaker is somewhat monotone, and the stories are interesting to me. The long Jim Cornett wrestling ones work for me too. I start one of these and put the phone face down so there’s no light.
