It's being said on various radio stations outside of Louisiana. Rumor? Inside info?

Got to fire some people in order to hire others I would assume it works that way

It could be that Chavis has already been secured and is waiting for Les to clean house and is spilling the beans to a few people.

Geaux the hell away?

I'm not sure about Chavis.

For the rep Les has as a guy that makes good hires, which hires have worked out?

Crowton(Unless Les runs him off)
Bo(His scheme was getting ripped at the end of last year)

We are looking at firing

DB Coach/DC
LB Coach/DC
DLine Coach
WR Coach
OLine Coach

Great hiring track record IMO

Then again who else is out there.

Tenuta/Robinson. Bumpas seems to be a puppet.

Why not?

He coached a really good defense at Tennessee despite the fact that the offense couldn't win a game if the opponents forfeited.

I mean theres more than 3 candidates in the world. There are good guys out there. he has a blank checkbook, he needs to get off his arse and find somebody worth a shite.

He wouldn't be at the top of my list, but seems like a solid guy. Good record at Tenn., they usually rank near the top of league defensive rankings. This year they are ranked #6 nationally. Nothing to sneeze at. Supposedly he runs a so-called "Maverick" defense in which the corners line up 5 to 15 yards off the receiver .... any truth to this criticism? Good thing about hiring Chavis is that he can be hired NOW and can coach in the bowl game, and participate in recruiting. What kind of recruiter is he? Overall, not a home-run of a hire, if indeed it's him, but a solid hire, certainly a huge upgrade.

True I was just listing some of the big name guys.

What about BC's DC they've played well, but then again the ACC's offenses are garbage.

Probably because teams don't actually have to score more than 13 to beat UT. They can start running out the clock at halftime.

from another post, these are his recent total defense rankings:

2004 #45
2005 #7
2006 #50
2007 #70
2008 #4

So, good 40% of the time.

I don't know who will be our DC next year. Here are some names and pluses and minuses to consider.

1. Tenuta - known to be a difficult personality and his GT teams had good - not great defenses and the ND defense sucked this year with him. concern over building team chemistry.
2. Bumpas - it's one thing to have a top defense playing WAC / Mountain West teams and another winning in the SEC.
3.Chavis - won consistantly in the SEC and a national title and TN. Defense often plays with maginal talent. With great talent ( which he has had,we have, and Les can continue to get) his defenses were very strong. Last years SEC Championship Game, he shut us out with only one offensive TD.
4.Greg Robinson - coming off a disgraceful tenure with Syacuse and has not won in the SEC and has an uneven defensive record at Texas.

How does Tennessee's defensive talent compare to LSU's though?

How would you feel with Chavis as DC and Ed O as DL coach/recruiting coordinator?
