So I ditched the Spector TonePump active circuit and 2 Bartolini P/U for the Fret Shack Specials (Carondelet), and after 4 months, I can say…
…Yeah U Rite Brah!
Now has a growly tone—unique, and better in every aspect (no need for 9v batteries anymore!)

Yep, his p-90 telecaster set, that I put in my yellow telly, are as good as you can ask for. Last upgrade I'll ever need to do to that guitar, and it still looks like a Telecaster is supposed to look.
If you are wanting to upgrade your guitar, and truly want to set yourself apart, give fretshack a shot.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking about getting those for my bass.

That's a good looking bass. Is that poplar?

The Tone Pump preamp is trash.
When I had my ReBop 5 I totally bypassed it and went completely passive.
The EMG-HZ soapbars sounded great on their own....

Never played a Spector. Would like to try one out, but I don’t need another bass. Though I could sell my Pbass. Thanks for the gas.
Do those come in solid colors?
Seems like unless you have spent $5,000 to $10,000, most end up either switching out the onboard preamps or doing away with them and going passive.
I just said to heck with it and switched to passive only. It’s easier to just get a pedal preamp and if you don’t like it, it’s a lot easier to just box up, sell, try another, than to be taking out preamps and replacing and all that.
I’ve got a Jazz I bought a few years ago that has Fender Pure Vintage pickups in it and I think they’re good, but could be better. They don’t stack up to my Geddy pickups. May have to give Carondelet a look.

I've got a crapload of poplar around here. Usually, it's a straight growing tree with boring lumber, but I've got 1 pretty nice sized tree that has had a rough life. It's all bent and twisted, and I'm gonna cut it soon to find out what's inside.
