I guess blind, irrational optimism is better than a realistic take, then.

If this series was being played in June, I'd agree that this team is unbeatable. Unfortunately, it's not June. It's October.

This has nothing to do with anything. I could see you believing that Iraqis couldn't possibly kill you solely because you're wearing a USA uniform, much like you think the Phillies can't possibly beat the Braves solely because they're the Braves.

VaDawg, the Braves took 3 of 4 vs the Phil’s in Phillie in mid September. Why all the chicken little talk?

Wheeler owns us in Truist and he is a GREAT big game pitcher. Strider has been awful in his last six starts (33.1 IP, 21 ER), Fried's blister can re-open at anytime, and we don't have a third starter right now. I think it's a real possibility that we're starting AJSS in Game 3 in Philadelphia. Their bullpen is several tiers above ours at the moment, too.

As great as this offense has been, we can't really count on getting 6+ runs every night against playoff pitching.

ETA: Maybe this snippet from The Athletic helps explain it...

quote:

The Phillies had the edge in pitching, with a 4.02 ERA to Atlanta’s 4.14 for the season. It was a considerably larger advantage after the All-Star break, with Philadelphia posting a 3.98 ERA to Atlanta’s 4.76. The Phillies’ bullpen is much improved and has been particularly sharp down the stretch, finishing with a 3.56 ERA to the Braves’ 3.81, but with more of Philly’s key relievers pitching at a high level in the last month of the season.

Atlanta’s 5.32 bullpen ERA in September was fourth-worst in the majors and more than twice as high as Philadelphia’s 2.74, which was fourth-best in the majors for the month.

That awful Spencer Strider beat the Phil’s twice in September. The Braves won four out of seven vs the Phil’s in September. It’s playoff baseball. It won’t be easy. But there’s plenty of reason for optimism from Braves fans.

Possibly the best offensive season ever. Two top 10 type quality pitchers pitching 4 of the 5 games. I think we have a chance! Lol

I didn't know being realistic was considered being a pussy these days. If y'all want to ignore the very concerning trends with our pitching, that's your choice.

frick the Phils. frick Philly.

All of this.

And frick being scared

Again, being realistic isn't the same thing as being scared. I wish I had the irrational confidence that some of y'all do.

I don't think this is right. TBS's website shows that they have 4:30 and 8:30 start times. I'm guessing we're the 4:30 game.

Vadawg and broski like to be overtly pessimistic under the guise of being "muh Realists" so that if the Braves lose they can crow around saying they were right.

Where most fans are excited/nervous about playoff baseball, they choose to be fear mongers. Which is fine, I just don't understand choosing that as my fan personality. To each their own.

*yawn*

Still hilarious that we’ve made it this far this season and still have people trying to prove they are better fans by posting holier than thou drivel like this.

Kind of an extreme sentiment don't you think?
