Mac is certainly not good...but surrounding him with a bunch of journeyman WRs was a bad plan
We'd probably have a completely different view of him had the 9ers taken him in that draft. Is he less talented than Brock Purdy?

That and giving him Matt Patricia (a defensive coordinator) as his offensive coordinator in the second season of his career probably hurt his development.

When he steps into his throws no, but Mac gets scared extremely quick and is throwing off his back foot in okay pockets. He just does not have the arm strength to do that. When he was in his rookie year, he was stepping into passes and making great decisions. Now it feels like he's panicking and just doing idiotic shite with the football. He was never going to be a top 5 QB, but I think it's fair to say the Patriots kind of bungled that whole situation and did not put him in the best scenario to succeed.
