New asphalt parking lot problems.

Had our business parking lot expanded and resealed a few weeks ago. This is not normal right? All of these marks are in the new portions. Trying to figure out how pissed off I need to be. I called the contractor a week ago and told him about the marks and he said they were normal and would smooth out. Thankfully he hasn’t gotten a check yet.

Is that from tires turning while the car is stopped? I’ve seen that happen before on newer asphalt driveways. How long after refinishing was it parked on?

That’s what it looks like to me. There are two areas that were new asphalt poured on different days. One side is much worse than the other.
Seal coat was applied on a Saturday. They told us we could park on it Monday.
The new pavement was applied in an afternoon and they told us we could park wherever the next day.

that’s from tires on new asphalt
it ain’t gonna smooth out
asphalt is a liquid emulsion of aggregate. it takes several days to a week to set up depending on thickness. Usually an overlay is just an inch or two max

Is there any fixing that or do I request they rip it up and re pour?

they can cut and patch or mill and patch
either way you are going to see the repair area

I don’t mind seeing the repairs. I just don’t want holes. And it seems to me every one of those will turn into a hole in the near future.

If this was done recently, then the striping was done, the striping looks 3 yrs old

Did you have an engineer or testing co involved to check compaction, density etc? Best to get a roller back there, patch it, roll the parking lot and stay off it until it’s ready
