The cheapest Weber Summit will run him about $1250
Won’t argue this. But you’ll get a better built, better insulated pit that will probably last twice as long.
A garden variety Weber Kettle will last forever. People hold onto them for decades. All you have to do is keep it covered. It's that simple
I'll bet if the OP only purchased the two things listed below for his Kettle, the results and ease at controlling temperatures would rival your Summit and I know how well Summits cook. They cook just as well as any ceramic komado and probably cooks just as well as the ceramic cooker I recently got rid of.

I won’t argue any of your points, because they are good ones. I’d only invite you to take a hands-on look at the summit Kamado. It’s like your kettle but next level. The insulation rivals any of those ceramic cookers. It’s sturdier and comes standard at 24” for more cooking space.

I can get my kettle to over 700 easy with the venom. I did buy the gasket tape you mention and it works amazingly well.
I like my $300 grill/smoker that runs on wood and air.
I’ve done briskets and plenty pork butts and the temp holds rock steady. Longest cook has been 270 degrees for 17 hours. B&B coals and hardwood. Never refueled the 22.
