Lawyered, side questions: how do you Oxford residents deal with gameday/weekend busyness?? It's miserable .. and we've only been to visit our student who is now alum and working at OM. And how the hell do regular people (nurses, CNAs, secretaries, etc) afford to live in Oxford? Realty is $$$$, rentals are few and far between even for students. Students are NOW having to sign leases/look for housing for NEXT year.

I love visiting on non-game weekends. Game weekends are over for me now that our youngest in graduated.

I usually get my errands ran before traffic starts around Thursday. Then I’ll pretty much be a hermit

This weekend I’m renting my condo out however and I’ll be at my parents house for the weekend instead .

But yes gameday weekends are miserable and I hate living there in those few big weekends.

It’s funny you say that about living expenses.. my best friend and I about that often, like how the hell can people afford it here. I mean anything under $350,000 (lol) is snapped up quickly of which there aren’t that many places. So much is $500,000 and up . No clue how folks are doing it . And everyone’s driving a newer model Yukon/Tahoe as well . Math doesn’t math to me

Former resident here: Short answer is, it's not that bad for game day. You either join the festivities or you prepare and stay home.

Real estate has gone bananas though. A lot of people in that income range live off HWY 7 and 9 (south mostly) which is more comparable to suburb pricing but you're 10-15 minutes from Oxford out there.

I lived out in the county, about 10 minutes NE of the Square off Highway 30. Tons of undeveloped land all around to be had for not a lot of money.

I enjoy Oxford more in the spring over football season.

And I enjoy visiting now than I ever did living there.

Was there for 6 years for work, not school.
