I've got a couple younger people in my circle of acquaintances who have told me I may be onto something since they are starting to feel their phone is too big a part of their lives.
Like other's have mentioned, I see people everywhere with the damn things in their hands while going about daily tasks. When did being "connected" become such a dependence for people????
Watch a baseball or football game on TV and when the camera pans the crowd, you'll see about as many people with their heads glued to that small screen as you see actually watching the game. It's insane.

I thought I was not. Try going on a retreat where no cells are allowed.
Here is my proof to myself I am addicted. I kept reaching for my back pocket whenever Inwould do things like sit down or especially stand up to go somewhere. I kept checking for it making sure it was there (I do this because I like to misplace my phone)

I spend 9 hours every single day looking straight at it while at work.

I consistently spend 8 hours per day and I don't even do Facebook/Instagram.
Pretty much use it for work emails, TD, work texts, and a few dating apps.

They're pure evil. 90% of the country is full on addicted. It's no way to live. I fight it all the time with a flip phone and a website blocker. Hate that I cant get rid of it completely but I need it for work.

Yea it’s becoming more of a glaring issue
Kids are addicted. Teens are addicted. The middle aged people are addicted, and even the older folks are addicted to it
It’s annoying to have all your friends over, and more than half the time, everyone’s on their damn phones… and you know how I know they’re addicted to it?? When you call people out on it, they instantly become defensive about it. Like a true addict

I was mowing a friends 4 acres and couldn’t hear my phone. Just mowed and drank beer. Picked up the phone to 7 missed calls and 35 messages. Apparently I was supposed to pick up the dog at the groomers and the wife wasn’t happy that I didn’t answer. So the expectation is that I have it all the time. And I hate that.

How’s your gumbo though?
I've gotten lots of positive feedback on my gumbos over the years and have fed about 100 a pop at least a dozen times now when cooking for big events at a friends bar.

This.
I hate it. I don't like a leash. I leave it quite a bit. If the wife and kids are with me I don't bring mine. It's less of a distraction and I end up enjoying things more. Like I'm less preoccupied.
I went on a retreat years ago and they took our phone, watch, and keys.
It was awesome.

Annoyingly...sometimes I find myself almost sick and agitated and know it's cause I been staring at screens too long. I cam put it down but eventually my instinct is now to pick it up and mindlessly scroll

More than I would like to admit

Nothing was better than going to the Masters and having to leave it in the car.
