A few interesting races.
A lot Republican reps running unopposed. Not sure if that is good or not as none of them have accomplished much of anything I can think of. A lot of them disappeared during Covid and let JBE run all over freedoms.
For Sheriff I like Les Blanchard but Stitch being Mancusso's right-hand man both as Marshall and Sheriff will win it for him.
I hope Kevin Guidry wins over Wilfred Carter and Carter is finally ran out of politics. His history of investigations and allegations of racism over the years should have ended it a long time ago but this is LA politics.
Remember when he got in a fight with the state AG for interfering in his son's case while showing his racist side?
Judge Wilford Carter's recusal hearing
quote:
The attorney general's office played a recording at the recusal hearing of a taped conversation between Judge Wilford Carter and his son Jay Norris Carter. Jay Norris Carter was in jail at the time for an alleged parole violation. On the recording, Judge Carter can be heard reprimanding his son for breaking the law. But, he also made comments like "That white judge put you in jail."- Wilford Carter, and "I'll call Judge Waldron,"- Judge Carter, the sitting judge on the case against his son.
For those of you not from Lake Charles yes that's the same Kevin Guidry that played for LSU in the 80's and was drafted by Denver. Seems like an overall good guy and would be better for Lake Charles than Carter.

Is Les Blanchard the front runner for the Republicans?

IDK but he has the most recognition behind Stitch I think.
Met him a while back and I liked what he had to say about his vision and the changes he wants to make.

Well Stich appears to be an insider, he's on crime stoppers all the time getting free advertisement and every youtube commercial is Stitch.
I'm not voting for their good ole boy lineage anymore.

As I said, Stitch was with Tony at the Marshall's office then followed him to the sheriff's office. It will be more of the same. Not that Tony has been a bad sheriff but just time for fresh ideas as you pointed out.

I've become very disappointed with Mark Abraham. I helped him out in 2007 when he was running against House term-limited candidates Blade Morrish and Gil Pinac for that Senate seat. He swore he would be different and not part of the same old Baton Rouge politics.
He lost that race. It was a Morrish vs. Pinac runoff. Glad Blade won, though Blade performed as expected. Blade is a good guy overall, but he's just too much a pushover for what is needed within those Huey P. Long walls.
After Blade was term-limited in the Senate, Mark finally has gotten his chance. Well...not exactly what he was promising in 2007. That said, better than putting John Lewis in there, so we're just stuck with Mark.
Brett Geymann is good. It's funny/sad how the LA GOP brass HATED Geymann when Bobby Jindal was Governor (Geymann was helping to call out Jindal's BS budget tactics), yet now they love him. Bunch of yellow-bellies. Geymann has always been good.

Josh Lewis but Agreed.
Was he related to the Lewis family that died of CO2 poisoning after Laura?

I know Brett and run into him at Home Depot all of the time and yes he is a good guy and a good Rep. His first stint in the Legislature he was known for being a fiscal hawk and he has done more of the same this time.

District Judge will be a tight race I've seen a bunch of yard signs from all 3 candidates.
Stitch Guillory should win convincingly. It will be tough to replace Mancuso. Mancuso has done a great job since he's been there.

I agree but right now you can tell he is burnt out.

After three sheriff debate I changed to Les. Seemed like Stitch as nice a guy as he has mailed it in.
I also know there have been sheriff's leaving, one of which was as dedicated as anyone in a uniform finally had enough and went to another police force. He said itbhad gotten so toxic it was time to.move on. Need some new lineage.

Here is Wilfred Carter Jr calling anyone supporting Trump a racist
Carter and his family have an "alleged" history of hating white people. Don't vote for him.

Stitch has hands down some of the craziest, funniest commercials ever. Talking about the fricking cartels
I imagine Dustan Abshire comes in 2nd in that race but I don't think it goes to a runoff.

There are cartel operations in the Beaumont area so it's not far-fetched to think some of it is here to some degree.
