There’s one near I-10, I-110, and the big shopping area in D’Iberville.

The first time we went through it, my wife (no pics) freaked out.

She gets it now

While it's nice this has opened it still just amazes me that they literally built the new terminal with no dedicated way to get to it. I mean that is epic level of incompetence and lack of planning.

Oh wait I forgot it's NOLA, Louisiana and LA DOT. I'm not surprised at all.

What is this dweeb trying to claim that he did that was so outstanding?

That he led the way towards getting them built. The political ad is terrible and not how funding/major construction works. But he makes a 'joke' to which his 'constituents' laugh about the fedgov building an airport and forgetting to build the roadway.

I get that the take is how some idiots believe it went down. To take ownership of the "fix" is highly disingenuous.

The airport was planned and started construction with little to no coordination with the actual owners of the roadways that would connect to it.

This has very little to do with any ineptness on DOTD's part.

Indeed, you can thank Mitch Landrieu for this action.

I’ve never had an issue getting to the airport without the ramp. It was not the nightmare many, myself included, predicted.

Agree. So far I’ve never had any real issue. Have to say overall I do like the new airport. I bite the bullet and usually just lay short term parking and go from home to gate in like 40 minutes. And when flying with kids being able to feed them a decent meal before leaving has been great on early and long flights.

Now they do need to figure out an on property shuttle solution for the rental car and old lot. It’s a nightmare for people renting cars i here.

Well, Jindal said he wasn’t going to allow the state to build the ramps because he felt the new terminal wasn’t necessary.

I thought about that, but the quick answer is that the Veterans Canal is essentially right there. Wouldn't need a pump or anything, just catch basins and new pipes with outfalls into that canal (which are typically halfway down the depth of a canal bank, 4-5 feet down from surrounding grade).
