Going to Cape Town, Winelands, and Safari next month
Any tips or recs would be appreciated! Mainly looking to see if anyone has recs on certain camera we should get for the safari. Just so many options and not too familiar with cameras in general. Thanks in advance

Edit- camera budget range between $500-1000 would be ideal, prob wont spend more than that

My trip review

My comments contained within.

A month is short period of time to buy and learn how to actually use a camera.
You're going to need a lens that has 300mm range minimum.

If you dig into that thread after my initial review I learned a bit about post-production and you'll see a difference if the pictures load. They are still hosted on my Imgur account so you can always click through if they don't.

I will give you one piece of advice. My husband dad went 10 years ago, so equipment may have changed. My dad was an amateur photographer and they made him put his camera thru the xray machine and he lost 75% of his pics from the trip. so just make sure to insist they not run the SD cards thru.

Just remember to enjoy it

Sure take some pictures but don’t be so focused on the right lens and camera functionalities to enjoy the safari and the trip

One of my fondest memories I still think back on is riding in an overlander through the bush as the sun was shining and it was just a magical and peaceful time for me .

Savor the moment .
