"Daniels’ as Good As Anybody In The Country," Brian Kelly

quote:
“He’s been outstanding. Obviously, we’ve won a lot of football games,” said Kelly. “And certainly, his ability to win the game with his feet or throwing the football; he’s as good as anybody in the country. And we’ve seen a development now. We’re in Week 3 now; if you look at Week 3 last year, was it the week we threw for 85 yards? I think it was. And now he’s throwing 30 for 34.”Quote
It’s a huge game Saturday night in Tiger Stadium, huge for Daniels and for LSU with ESPN’s top crew announcing and a national audience watching. From his comments Kelly really likes the improvement of his star QB and he trusts him. Bet that Kelly and LSU’s receivers are looking forward to Daniels slinging it Saturday night. I am!

Huge? We should beat their arse by 20. Arkansas is not good.

It is huge for Daniels and LSU, consistency is what the NFL is looking for in a 1st round pick. And consistency is what LSU needs from Daniels to take LSU to another level this season.

Daniels is as good as anybody in the country when he’s on. He has had 2 great games against sub par competition. Let’s see him read an elite defense and torch them.

They are an SEC team. I would be more than happy with a 10 point win

Would it kill you to post the entire quote in the context it was given? We are perfectly capable of interpreting it ourselves without your commentary. Of course Kelly trusts Daniels—that’s why he starts him and lets him throw 30+ times every game. And of course he likes the improvements he’s shown from last year to begin this season.
But your subject title implies that Kelly said Daniels is as good as any QB in the country, when I think it was more that after the past 2 games, he is playing as well as anybody in the country. It’s kind of semantics, but there’s a difference. And you intentionally phrased it like that to set him up with unrealistic expectations so that if he “only” goes 23-31 for 250 yards and 1 touchdown, his haters will be ready to pounce, saying how he’s “regressed.” It may be subtle to the untrained eye, but I see your schtick and it sucks.

They need to continue to build on the improvement we've seen the last couple weeks.
Ole Miss is going to be the "show me" game. On the road against a good offense with a DT QB. State and Arkansas don't have the offense to really test the D so we won't really know how much the defense has progressed until the OM game.
I'll be really interested to see how Kiffin does vs Bama Saturday. Bama's offense is struggling, but they still have a good D. My hope is that it's a close game so Ole Miss isn't fresh for the LSU game.

Posts like this are strange. All you did was say things that everyone already knows. You provided no new point of conversation. Really just a post to basically hear yourself talk.

He might creep into the 3rd round if he finishes out playing like he did on Saturday

You’re missing the point HC, regardless of what you think of Arkansas this is still huge for Daniels and LSU. Kelly is looking forward to seeing consistency from Daniels Saturday night, that would bode well for both his QB and his team.

Still a rivalry game and an SEC game… y’all act like we are going out and playing grambling again. Arkansas will bring it just like they did last year.

I agree with all this, everything you just posted. It’s the title of your thread that I take issue with. Because you continuously fail to both post the entire quotes your threads talk about and a link to where you got them. You know, so we could actually read them and interpret them ourselves.
And you’ve done this enough to where it’s obvious to us paying attention that your motivation is to stir shite and cause derision. Which is weird and sucks.

Explain it to them. Yes Arkansas played poorly last Saturday, but they’re going to come hard at LSU to redeem themselves.

If he plays the rest of the year like he did Saturday (he won’t) he will be the number one overall pick with half the teams in the NFL trying to trade up for him.

It's a process.
JD did exactly what we need him to do last game.
Take some chances down field and let the ball go.
This week is important because we wanna see him continue to do that instead of reverting back to his ultra conservative approach like last year (and FSU this year).
I think the coaching staff will be in his ear if he starts playing it safe early on. Hopefully he comes out slinging again this week.

While that’s certainly fair on its face, I have a feeling that any defense he torches will just be written off as “sub par” simply because he torched them. And there is no defense on our schedule unless we play Georgia in the SECCG that won’t be easily hand-waved as “sub par” by his most staunch detractors. 25-32 for 375 yards and 3 TDs against Bama in Tuscaloosa? “Well, Bama sucks this year, Saban’s lost it, Steele’s just phoning it in at this point just to get his Alabama state pension, he’s not even calling the plays…Let’s wait until he does it against a real defense.”
People have made up their minds about him already and there’s no actually changing them. All the “I was wrong about Daniels” posters that popped up Saturday, will flip right back to “I TOLD YOU DANIELS SUCKS” as soon as he has a bad game.
And he will have a bad game this season. All QBs do. 30-34 with 340 yards, 2 TDs passing and 2 more rushing, while setting the single game completion percentage record is not sustainable. Progress is not a straight line at a perfect 45 degree angle. There will inevitably be peaks and valleys. Progress for Jayden will be keeping his valleys higher than they were last year and still finding ways for LSU to win.
