Our group of 14 guys is headed up to the GABF this weekend and are staying at an AIRBNB just outside of Denver in Evergreen.
We’re going to the GABF Thursday afternoon and are trying to mix in a hike at St. Mary’s Glacier when we land. Also taking in a show at RedRocks Friday night.
It looks like we just missed the river activities which closed just after Labor Day. Other possible stops include Idaho Springs, Boulder, Golden, Morrison, and the events around Denver Beer Week.
We’d love to hear some must see’s (breweries, outdoor activities, restaurants, etc.) in and around Denver as well as some advice as we’re all first-timers at the GABF. The consensus for watching Saints/LSU games is Stoney’s, right?

Urban Putt was cool. Looks like they remodeled it and it's Holey Moley now.

I can’t imagine the amount of flannel, mustaches, and trucker hats that will be there

Be on the serious lookout for arm hair and adam's apples on "women." I've never seen so many. Getting gender changing surgery was a thing there 20 years ago according to folks I met when I was there a year ago.

Everything you wear will smell like weed. They start vaping THC well before lunch.

I will at GABF as well. I would highly recommend Guanella Pass. My recommendation would be to enter from the Grant side and drive north. If you want to do a hike, Bruno Gulch would be my recommendation. After the hike you can stop at the top take some pics and then descend down into Georgetown and eat lunch. Or if you want to drive a little bit more, Indian Peaks Wilderness (IPW) is the best spot on the front range that regularly gets overlooked by out of towners due to proximity to RMNP. IPW is very beautiful. You can drive up to Brainard lake and chill or hit Mitchell or Long lake. After, you can eat lunch in Nederland. I would recommend Crosscut for lunch. And yes for Stoney's. I will be there for the LSU game. See you there.

Diamond Lake trail is an easy and enjoyable one in IPW.

Outer Range brewery has stellar brews. Don’t think you’ll be close to the brewery (Frisco), but if you are make a stop. Good booze store across the parking lot from them, forgot name.

Brainard lake Reservations.

I thought the reservation period had ended on Sunday but looks like it doesnt end till October. Good catch. Oh and there are reservations available. I have never had issues getting afternoon reservations throughout summer.

We went to GABF 3 years ago. It is overwhelming with the choices and the layout. The funniest thing to us was the number of security officers posted along the stairways to assist the drunks falling down the stairs when leaving! the 3 hour time slot is more than enough time to hit the popular spots first and fill in from there.
