Absolutely needed to be a suspension. One dude hits him in the back while the other guy cross checks him in the head

I feel like, especially in the playoffs, once a team gets a 1 or 2 goal lead they just sit on that and play super conservative and only take shots on odd man rushes or when there is a PP. Seems to be working but I feel like that's too close to playing to not lose.

NHL showed some shades of NFL/NBA last night in the BOS/FL match. I hate to see that type of game fixing here now too. Don’t care for either team but that was blatant.

Looks like Drouin will be back in the lineup for the Avs tonight.

Hope Carolina can pull out another win as this series has been too good to end in 5

FML.
Adrian Dater:
Val Nichuskin confirmed out and going back into player assistance program after failing a drug test. Season over. Gotta trade him for something in the off season now. That’s 2 years in a row he’s failed his team in the playoffs and after the Avs and the fan base stood by him. He’s gotta go. I think he’s been the Avs best player and is a ConnSmythe type guy so far but this is the end of him in Colorado. frick.

Not confirmed officially, but I'm hearing Valeri Nichushkin won't play tonight and that there may be something more regarding his issues previously.

How is this not an April fools joke

Minimum 6 months without pay but basically he’s done for good. He won’t come back from this in the NHL.no teammates will want him in the locker room. He may not come back from this in life.

Go Canes. This game has an OT feel. I hope they win even though it will cost me $600 for game 6 tickets

That sucks. I hate seeing people with the world in their hand flush it down the toilet.

Well this is terrible
Nobody talks about how Val being out v Seattle last year was basically the reason we lost
Then he comes back this year and has the best season of his career with going to player assistance program smack dab in the middle. But he was a huge part of our Cup run and the team, does his time, then comes right back scoring like he had never left.
Now on one of the all time heaters to start the playoffs - and this again. After the team took a chance on him after his disaster in Dallas, rewarded him after the Cup run with a big deal, and stuck with him after his playoff debacle last year plus needing assistance in the middle of the year.
This is much bigger than just this series - Val was a huge part of the Avs' future. I was pessimistic about winning with him, now without him the job is tougher.

He had an incident during the playoffs last year and didn’t play. He entered the treatment program this year. And now this. So three strikes in a year. And he counts against the cap. Catastrophic for a top tier cup contender considering he has 9 goals in 10 playoff games.
Posted on 5/13/24 at 7:58 pm to metallica81788
Wow that is a massive blow.
Posted on 5/13/24 at 8:02 pm to Lsupimp
There’s got to be something in his contract for this type of thing that lets Colorado dump his cap next year right? I legitimately have no clue
Posted on 5/13/24 at 8:07 pm to metallica81788
I think he has 6 months of no pay then he applies for reinstatement. But he counts against the cap. Regardless, no way Sakic keeps him. Which means we have to find a high skill winger and sort the cap out and let people go and all kind of headaches for Sakic and McFarland.
