Did anybody catch episode 1 of the spin-off? Garbage or worth watching?

So, 12 years later, and people haven't figured out how to isolate from the zombies?

Didn’t blow me away, but actually, it wasn’t all that bad. He’s in France. Yes, France. I’ll continue with it, but I watched all seasons of Walking Dead. I’m a glutton for punishment. First episode was much better than Maggie and Negan’s show. Much better.

All zombie shows/movies jump the shark as soon as other humans become the main, central threat rather than the zombies. Once the zombies have been sidelined to a supporting role, an occasional threat, a convenient plot device, then it stops really being a zombie show.

Of course, that almost always happens, because of the zombie allegory tropes of "other bad," etc.

Season 1 of the Walking Dead was so amazing because it maintained the zombie threat as so real and so central for so long. As the zombies became more mundane and moved into the background over the ensuing seasons, the show had to rely more and more on tricks and gimmicks to keep the audience interested. Negan breathed a little life into the series because he was such a great bad guy and gave the show another interesting main threat.

Daryl probably going to sleep with a nun in France was not what I would have expected as a story line for his character.

It was actually pretty good, and I’m not a big Daryl fan. Way better than any of the spin-offs or later seasons of TWD.

I was hoping the nuns would give him a haircut when they cleaned him up. I get tired of him having stringy hair hanging in his face while he grunts and grumbles.

Is Rick ever going to reunite with Maggie, Daryl, etc? If so, I will probably watch again. Otherwise, I lost interest in that show long ago

First two episodes are pretty good. Like someone said, I like these short run series.

Dead City with Maggie and Negan was really good, but Negan is the best character of the entire TWD universe.

I stopped watching TWD after the 9 year time jump.
I only watched the first season of FTWD, and a few episodes of season 2.
