Why doesn’t the Natchitoches area have a nice golf course? Supposedly lots of $$$ in the area, supposedly a “certified retirement” community, very picturesque properties on water, interstate highway access, college town, etc…
Northwestern Hills is a terrible layout, and not much different from a goat ranch or pasture. Just doesn’t compute…

I’ve often wondered about this. Plus, it’s so convenient off I-49. Not too far from Toledo Bend either.

Probably because half of the population leaves town for 4 months out of the year.

Of course, that area has Cypress Bend, and the state just paid to update it…

There's actually a new golf association forming in Natchitoches to hopefully put pressure on NSU to provide a better golfing experience. The first step is they are going to be consulting with the superintendent from Links on The Bayou.

As for Cypress, I think they're slated to open on Sept 28.

I believe Northwestern Hills used to be a 9 hole course, and they jammed another 9 in there. Cheap and in good shape for a. small town college course. They use all of their tax dollars on the Lights festival which crams a ton of people in December. Don't blame them. There used to be a country club but I believe it closed down.
