Walter Cronkite
weatherman local was Tex Carpenter, he used a marks-a-lot to draw on the weather map.
local news was a guy named Jeff LaCazz (sp?) who ran for governor I think and lost to Treen.

Sportscaster, I have no idea.

The weather with Jack McCall brought to you by Louisiana Power and Light. Lol

Not sure Jack ever got a forecast right.

Then there was Lanny James with Sports.

Judy Waggoner was a news Hottie.

Local weather - I don’t remember her name but she stood behind a clear map and wrote backwards. We only had 2 channels back then, 2 and 9. No ABC station.

Nash Roberts- Weatherman

When Nash stepped down from TV, I think he opened up a weather consulting firm. Probably advising manufacturing plants, oil field companies, and other entities about storms and hurricanes that were approaching. Also I think they did some forensic work as expert witnesses providing air modelers with weather conditions at the time of chemical releases for use in the dispersion models.

For local news, there are a myriad of good news anchors and sports anchors from the Birmingham market. Too many to list.

When it comes to local weather, one man stands above the rest if you’re from central/north-central Alabama: James Spann, who was at WBRC 6 News and then went on to help form ABC 33/40 in the late 90s, where he still is.

For national news, I grew up primarily watching ABC World News with Peter Jennings.

Dan Rather, Dennis Woltering, Angela Hill, Dave Barnes, and Jim Henderson were on the tv almost every day throughout my childhood.

…and Karen Swenson.

Local:

News - Bill Elder/John Snell
Weather - Bob Breck/Don Westbrook
Sports - Ron Swaboda/Jim Henderson

I always watched 4 or 8 locally. I never really liked WDSU’s presentation. And WGNO, did not start doing full time news until 1996. They did do a newsmagazine show called Real New Orleans and a local game show, NO It Alls in its days as an independent.

National:
News - Peter Jennings/Tom Brokaw/Dan Rather
Sports - John Madden/Pat Summeral
Weather - John Hope

When I was born until Age 8 it was New York City
News: Jack Cafferty and Sue Simmons on Live at Five and then Chuck Scarborough with Sue Simmons on WNBC News 4 New York
Sports: Len Berman
Weather: Dr. Frank Field who just died at 100 and then Al Roker

Age 8 until 18 in Tampa
News: WFLA Channel 8 (NBC) Bob Hite and Gayle Sierens who was a sports anchor prior to that and is the ultimate trivia question as the first female play-by-play announcer in NFL history.
Sports: Chris Thomas (The only sports anchor in the area who would call the Bucs, Lightning, and Rays out for being crap when they were bad.)
Weather: David Grant and then Steve Jerve
When WTVT Channel 13 got bought by Fox from being a CBS affiliate in 1994 I watched their news at 10pm and still do for most newscasts.

I enlisted in the Air Force and am retiring next year. I won't elaborate on all of those locales lol.

National:
News: Tom Brokaw
Sports: Sportscenter until 10 years ago
Weather: Willard Scott then Al Roker

Tom Brokaw is still alive but in retirement.

And Ted Koppel is now doing CBS Sunday mornings as fill in.
