I have similar credentials as yourself with a background in both IT and programming.

I love tech, but I try to keep most things simple. Not everything aspect of my life needs technology. I don't have much smart home bullshite for example.

The only smart thing I have in my home is the Google Nest

I wouldn’t call my appliances and all that smart. They are simple appliances. I can’t help the fact that’s all there is now is appliances with shiny computer screens.

In fact they are dumb as frick right now - very far from smart

Don’t even get me on a rant about AI - that’s all fake bullshite and the average person doesn’t even realize it.

Ditto, I buy the simplest product that can do the job, a wifi refrigerator is the dumbest shite I ever heard of. My wife wanted a wifi washer and dryer so she can tell when a load is done without getting up. She goes to an $80 a month gym 4 days a week to get exercise, here is some free exercise. Got a Speed Queen washer and I fixed the dryer.
