I hated his response to the Perkins question. I’m all for player development but not at the expense of an LSU victory. You put your players in position to get an LSU VICTORY. It’s not so much player development that I’m worried about. It’s the way he responded to the question as if 50% is getting Perkins ready for the NFL and 50% was about victory. On gameday when we step out onto the field it should be about winning for LSU and that’s it.

He said the team needs to have more urgency. They need to sprint onto the field.
It’s more than that.

I mean I'm sure they made promises to Perkins with regards to development during his recruitment.
Also, teams had started to neutralize Perkins as a pure edge rusher at the end of last season.

Is he saying that playing Perkins at ML is what's best for his NFL career, or is that what is needed at LSU, b/c i would disagree with both?

This is the only issue I had with his answers. You’re the coach of LSU. You’re not paid to be the NFLs developer. Also, who is saying he’s a ILB at the nfl?
I understood he’s explanation of “we aren’t who we thought”. He knew the magnitude of this game and think he drove a message of playing the game under control, staying focused so much that the players unfortunately treated it like a scrimmage
