quote:Does anyone else find it hilarious that we have a Jordan Jefferson and a J. Lee competing on the D-Line? It's like they have been reincarnated.
CBK also mentioned Lee as having a good camp after getting in better shape. paraphrasing but he was decent at Florida at times and could be a solid rotational guy.

He's really put on some weight since 2011.

Love the way he gets off the block and gets to the ball and also gets his hands up on the pass rush. I look for him to have an impact on the game. We will have a great 4 DL rotation when Mason comes back.

Jefferson really needs to make lots of noise in this game.
It’s kind of semantics, but I don’t think he needs to make “noise” or make any special plays. He just needs to do the dirty work taking on double teams or blowing up guys to collapse holes. It may be Perkins, Wingo, Savion, and whoever we have at Jack who come clean up and get the glory of the TFLs, sacks, and hopefully, forced fumbles. Not saying Jefferson can’t or won’t make any splash plays, but he could have an outstanding game and a huge impact even if they never call his name. We may have to watch a replay really focusing on him specifically to get a true appreciation for how he affected the game.
I didn’t mention him in my list of guys who can benefit by Jefferson’s dirty work, but I also think Brooks is bigger playmaker than maybe we give him credit for and one of the reasons they like him at nickel is because House can bring him down to help in run support and even bring him on some delayed blitzes. He can be moved around almost like a LB and used some like teams expect us to use Perkins.
If Perkins is able to drop back in coverage just well enough to do often enough to keep offenses honest, House can get creative with his looks and bring different guys from all over the field to disrupt offensive plays and create explosive ones for our defense. I think 1 way we “hide” our weakness at DB is to be creative and take some chances. I think we’ll probably wind up giving up some big plays, but the TFLs, sacks, and turnovers I expect us to create should more than make up for it. But it does start with the interior DL.

I haven’t watched any of his highlights, but you’re the 3rd or 4th guy to mention this in this thread. And I absolutely love it. It’s something that’s driven me crazy for almost 30 years of watching football. It’s insane to me that it’s not coached more or is not just an innate instinct. You’re 6’4”/6’5” with long arse arms. If you can’t get home on a passing play, WHY NOT get your arms up? Even if you don’t bat the ball down, you make it harder for the QB to see where he’s throwing.
I remember a Saints game a few years ago where Cam Jordan batted down like 4 or 5 passes. Then never again. It just baffles me why it’s not a bigger part of every DL’s game.

He’s got some tree trunk legs.
