I would have to say Lake City, Florida. That place sucks. What say tOT? I'll hang up and listen.

Being from Alexandria, I feel like I'm cheating by providing the biased, but very correct, answer.

Jackson.
Parts of Istanbul scared the shite out of me as an outsider. Most of the touristy parts are awesome, but I had to go to a sketchy area on the Asian side that was really messed up, and this was during the Syrian migrant crisis too. I grew a beard and wore dark clothes when I was there. One day I couldn’t leave the hotel because some rather violent protests going on outside. Military coup was a month after I left.

East St. Louis, IL
A close second would be Jackson, MS. Fondren is the only thing that keeps it from being the worst.

There are some nice things about most towns. The worst of New Orleans is about as bad as you can get in the US.
I maintain that Gary is worse. Pine Bluff Arkansas is probably up there though.

Drove through Grambling once. I would probably off myself if I had to live in that area of the state. There are another few towns somewhere between Krotz Springs and Alexandria that I drove through once. (Got off of the interstate coming back from Alexandria so I could piss.) They weren't any better. Knowing how I live compared to the actual poorest areas of the state, it's kinda depressing.

Lake City isn’t on my top ten list of the worst. I do remember a dive bar there called Frogs. The beer was cold and I’ll leave it at that.
