“Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka was among U.S. team captain Zach Johnson's six captain's picks announced Tuesday.

Johnson's other captain's picks were Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth and Sam Burns.”

I'm actually surprised after he didn't fair well in the last President's Cup. He did have one of the best scores in the tour championship especially when you take away the starting score. Would have been 4th or 5th I believe. Regardless, happy for him. Thought he may have been one of the first few out near the top of the WGRs.

My question is, how in the world did JT make the team his game right now is pathetic at best

He started this past season so strong before dropping hard the 2nd half... Glad he had the big 62 two weeks ago that propelled him into this conversation.

It’s obvious that Zach is taking a different approach. Often we have taken the best 12 players at the time and have gotten skull drug. What’s obvious is that no matter how good the players are if they don’t play/work well together, they have no chance. JT is an extreme example of the opposite where we are bringing guys who are comfortable together and can hopefully support and work well together. Team golf is a whole other animal to the individual game.

He didn't have a good W/L record, but I think the stats showed he played really well. Love mentioned it in the post cup presser.

also glad to see Rickie Fowler make a comeback this year. He struggled for a few years, but he's back. Good for him - I like the guy.

Understandable question. He is something like 16-5 though in Ryder Cup and if you only look at the American rankings, would be #16 out of American players. Only guys ahead of him NOT on the Ryder are Cam Young, Keegan, Finau, and Zalatoris.

Zalatoris is obviously hurt and Finau hasn’t been great this year either so could really only make the case that Keegan or Young got snubbed. Glover has been hot recently, but even those back 2 back wins, still ranked lower than JT on the golf rankings.

Guessing they decided on history over current play for JT.

He's also best friends with Scheffler who I'm sure had some say of the final spot.

Very true and he made the team to anchor Scheffler and to counter balance him on the greens. They didn’t play all that well together in the Presidents Cup. Let’s hope that changes at the Ryder Cup.

This IMO is the biggest reason to take him. It's one of the premier events to win.

A good teammate still has to contribute to the team. JT right now is a train wreck. He needs some time off to get his mind right.

A Ryder Cup is not the place to be if you aren't 100 percent confident going in. JT is FAR from that right now. All it takes is a bad drive, a missed 3-footer or a really bad iron shot and he falls apart for some reason. He just doesn't have it mentally right now.

Actually Sam did not play that poorly. Scottie held them back .
