He should get a proper bond hearing on Monday or Tuesday in front of Judge McAfee, the judge assigned to the case.
The judge he faced on Thursday was really just there to rubber stamp the arrests and releases. And Floyd was the only Defendant who did not pre arrange bail ahead of time.
Contrary to what the OP quoted, Floyd does have a criminal record, as he has been charged with assault in Maryland. The judge considered him a flight risk and a dangerous individual, and denied him bail. He will have a chance to plea his case to Judge McAfee.
They aren't denying him counsel, they are denying him a public defender. To qualify for a public defender in Georgia you have to prove you are indigent. Floyd will need to find his own attorney.

Judge Emily Richardson (ruled) that Floyd would not qualify for having a public defending lawyer.
