I hear you. But if these kids weren't in school. Where would they go. Their parent(s) are at work. The teens will be home alone with endless free time. There is a guarantee they will get into trouble.

I know as it right now, many of these teens are already getting into trouble. But without mandatory schooling, I would wager you can double or even triple that number.

I hate it, but many high schools are nothing but a glorified day care. The system is broken, I admit. But what is the solution, however?

Not so sure about that.

Most of them would sleep until noon, so maybe only two or three more hours of trouble potential. And we have a criminal justice system.

That is a laughable statement. At work?

Ever heard of a latch-key kid? We were all the rage in the 80s, and I never robbed a department store out of boredom.

FIFY. That's why the left is always bleating about universal pre-k.

Whomever said, "high quality," congrats on using a meaningless, undefined phrase designed only to evoke feelings in people, not facts or results that can be measured. Stop going by the female playbook, and stop using meaningless terms.

Well then they go to jail. So no matter what they are on our dime. Society is safer and I would think the cost to tax payers is less with them locked up.

A good start would be to segregate (sorry, politically incorrect word) the students that are discipline problems into separate classes from the other students. This will accomplish two things, they won't disrupt the other students, and they won't have as much of an audience to act out in front of. Some of them may even get the idea that their actions have consequences (not many). And they will serve as examples to other students, not in a good way. It will suck for the teachers that have to watch them for the day, but they can let them sleep, play on their phones, etc., if they don't want to learn, and can't behave. I would be willing to bet that the overall school test scores would improve dramatically. And the ones that aren't reached are already basically unreachable, so not much change with them.
