JD ain’t making the jump people are predicting.

He’s a 5th year guy…. We’ve seen his ceiling.

I don't think that's entirely true. A fair portion of his issues seem to be mental (risk aversion). That is the type of thing that can change.

I suspect that much like last year, JD will run hot and cold. On good days he's a terror, hitting his passes and driving the defense crazy with his scrambling. Hopefully his bad days won't be as horrific this year. And if he is having that bad day, I think BK has enough confidence in Nuss to pull the trigger and put him it. Nuss has the skills to open shite up, but there's still concern that he will do something too risky.

Normally a two-quarterback system is a bad idea, but with these two it might make some sense because the skill set is so different. Regardless, I'm sure we'll see a lot of both of them. I'm sure that BK wants to make sure both are getting playing time.

JD makes the offense move steadily and doesn't create turnovers. So it makes sense to have him in early and start. However as we've seen, on a bad day the offense stalls too much. Nuss, on the other hand, can move us downfield fast with that arm, but he might still be a bit turnover prone. That makes him high risk and high return. It would make a lot of sense to bring him in later in the game to catch up on the scoreboard when we are down. The risk of an interception isn't as significant if you are going to lose the game anyway. May as well take your shots.

Several years ago we had a transfer from Ohio State who had a pretty good year as a 5th year senior, so maybe they don't all reach their ceiling after year 4.

There’s a large contingent of the fan base that refuses to acknowledge theses facts. They continue to compare him to Burrow’s 2019 jump in production. Only problem is that was only Burrow’s 2nd year as a D1 starter, this will be Daniel’s 5th.
