And I have 6 or 7 of these DC boxes sealed. They are going for $60

I haven't seen those in a long time. I have a few as I was big on comic cards for a bit. Any star wars?

I don't remember there being any. I haven't looked through it all in a few years from when I bought the house they were in. There are 6 or 7 of those boxes like the one in my post. They are in storage in my guest house. Me and the wife are getting ready to do a fall cleaning when it cools off and I will go through it all.

My kids are into trading cards. Believe it or not, the hat store “Lids” sells a bunch of topps brands. They carry the more expensive and premium hobby boxes as well as blasters and smaller packs. Target also has a decent selection but you might catch the ghey shopping there.

Panini and Topps are the best. The value varies from set to set, but you usually get what you pay for. Some have guaranteed autographs and patches (usually hobby boxes).

If you are interested in a set, watch someone break a box on YouTube so you have an idea what you are looking at before you buy. Odds are, you won’t get close to making your money back, it’s just for the fun and thrill of it.

For basketball and football Prizm is the standard, followed by Optic then Select (optic has better looking and "cooler" cards than select)

So - I went to the show in Kenner this morning. I've been in the hobby forever, but I'm a $1 box shopper. When I'm telling you EVERY table had rows and rows of the umpteen-color parallels from these products from the last few years. I probably could have bought $1000 worth of LeBron, Mahomes, Giannis, Josh Allen parallels for a buck each - if I had the patience to dig.

Shiny Panini product from the past few years is printed at 1988 Donruss levels.

To the OP - with your budget, I'd buy 4-6 boxes of retail (spoiler alert - you're not getting shite out of that either) and spend the rest on a few nice cards. $75-100 can go a LONG way when you're buying singles.

Agree. It's weird though, I see just as much football (in the $1 boxes), but you see much less football product on the shelves.

I collect cards. Would anybody be interested in a continual thread for those in the hobby? Started back last year because of my sons and it is fun to feel like a kid again.

I would participate... on occasion.

It would be fun to see what other people have in their collection.

I agree. I have some higher end modern cards but I am dumping those to get into vintage.

Yeah. Probably best to keep that out of the thread and use DMs.
