Did you just post a picture that someone took of you at a card show?

I think I am learning a lesson on prospect/rookie cards. Turn them as quickly as possible and then live with it down the road if they turn out to be Ohtani. The possible news about Wander is a classic example.

I heard it put best at the last card show I attended, "I only collect dead guys because they can't screw up."

Very true. It's all speculation so when it is hot take the W you can get. Similar to stocks and holding on too long

The card boom of 2020 really gave a false market. ALL cards are coming back to reality. My biggest get lately is a 54 Hank Aaron rookie. SGC 4. I picked up some graded Mantles, Jackies, and Sandy.

I'm wanting to dump what little I have and just hang on to my classics like Rice, Montana, Sanders, etc

It also put a bunch of "influencer" types driving shtt in the market. I see these ppl at the big shows across the country and want to punch them in the face.

"GeoffWilson you ruined the hobby I love.

I know nothing about vintage. I know that market is stable af, but know nothing about it.

I hate going past the year I began collecting hard as a middle schooler and reading Beckett's like the bible.

Started in the transition year of 98 to 99 draft class.

99 SPx, still my favorite set to this day because of nostalgia.

You aren't getting hobby boxes for $150 to $300.

Timed right, you can get Topps Series 1,2 and Update for $150ish - total.

I don’t have that discipline. I HAVE to rip them. If you can hold on to boxes, particularly Bowman (for prospects that become huge e.g. Ohtani, Trout, Acuna etc.) you may be sitting large.

I collected Bowman all the way up until the prices went through the roof in '21. I miss it but there's no way I can get back into it with prices 3x's what they were in '20.

A CORRECTION is coming, and has been for well over a year now.
The covid bump caused by free money and the influencers who have ruined the hobby is over and the results are coming home to roost.
The hobby was fine before this, it will survive after this.
Panini and Topps got greedy and didn’t help.
Fanatics now owns Topps and has now basically (as of yesterday) shut Panini down from selling licensed football products. Panini will fight it but Fanatics will now have a monopoly on breaking, grading, sealed etc of most popular sports.
Modern is a shite show.
Collect Vintage singles. ‘Wax’ from the newest glut years is trash unless you plan to hold for 20+ years sealed.
Good luck.
