If Georgia and Alabama have to go more run heavy due to subpar QB’s we could match up well

Everyone keeps talking about our questionable db play, which is fair, but I think an often overlooked flip side is the question: who do we play who can actually take advantage of it?
FSU could, sure, but they’re OOC and we can afford that loss as long as we clean up in the SEC (note: I think we’ll win the FSU game too, though). Out of the rest of our schedule who really has a prolific passing attack? Arkansas? Ole Miss? Missouri? Miss State?
I just don’t see it. I think our Dline is going to absolutely smother run games with Maason back and Perkins in the middle and our db’s will be good enough to keep everyone we play honest. Once we’re in the playoffs all bets are off, but that’s a first-world problem we’ll be glad to have.

If Norvell has FSU better prepared to play, out coaches BK for the 3rd year in a row and LSU drops the opener, the team is highly likely not going to be playoff bound. LSU has got to win that opener.

Horrible take.

Meh, we lost to them and got boat-raced by UT and still controlled our own destiny until week 13

Norvell losing a close game to Brian Kelly in 2021 has nothing to do with the 2023 College Football Playoff.

The loss last year had no implication on our ranking come playoff time

This is the paradox of trying to glean definitive conclusions from "camp reports"...which themselves are just snippets of practice.
The talk has been LSU passing game is "winning" most of the battles against the defensive backfield. That leads some, like the OP, to draw the conclusion that LSU's DB play is questionable. But, perhaps, that is ignoring a different possible conclusion...that LSU's passing game is really damn good.
And why shouldn't it be this early in camp? LSU has a very experienced returning starting QB. Almost all of the top pass catchers from last year return. The OC is the same. An entire starting OL returns. But maybe more notable than that is the facts (1) the defense is probably not showing the offense a lot of exotic looks right now...something they will clearly show opponents come game time, (2) The QB's can play a lot more comfortably knowing there is little risk of being hit. Why not hold the ball a bit longer? Why not throw a few more "risky" passes? There is no real consequence for doing so right now in practice.
Frankly, I would be MORE concerned if the offense, particularly the passing game, was NOT "winning" right now.
Perhaps the defense will be just fine as long as they don't have to play against LSU's offense...which is great because LSU's offense is not on the schedule this year.

Our front seven may be elite, but we don't know yet. And they may be better at stopping the pass than the run.

All the above except maybe Missouri are going to have good passing attacks. Also, maybe Alabama but Georgia is going to have good QB play.

Y’all remember when we kept hearing reports of the offense torching the defense in practice before 2019?
I remember.
I remember.

I like where your heads at but the Beck kid from Georgia is not gonna be subpar

The middle of our defense at DT, MLB, and S are going to be among the best in the country. Historically when we’ve had that in the past we’ve had one of the best defenses in the country.
If this d is among the best in the sec we will be elite because the offense is going to score a lot of points.

No team has lost their opener and made the CFP.

We have to be better at run stopping than last year. TAMU ate our lunch over this.

That had more to do with our Dline being gassed and having zero depth. That problem has been solved.

True. I expect to be better against the run. And better at running the ball as well.

It’s going to take more than good to beat us this year. Miss State is going to take a step back on offense after losing Leach. Our talent advantage over Arkansas and Ole Miss is only going to become more insurmountable. The fact that Alabama went and poached ND’s mediocre QB tells me all I need to know about them. Georgia losing Todd Monken at OC is a very big deal and will hurt them.

GA has a deep wr group, a strong armed qb and the best pass catching TE in the country with a banged up rb room rn and a new oc who likes throwing the rock lol they not goin run heavy.
