Anyone remember after we would lose a game Dinardo would say (when applicable of course) "but we won the time of possession?". Who the hell cared and what the hell did it get us??

Not sure why I remember that ...

That just means the other team is blowing through your defense like crap through a goose.

It's a leadership thing. Sometimes you just have to take a bad performance and say, "Okay, we did very little right, so let's just forget that one, get back to basics, and correct as many of the big things as we can, and keep working on the little things as we go." Well, if you string a couple of those together, a unit or team will lose focus, so you acknowledge the loss or unsatisfactory performance as a whole, but try to point out the things that are either positive, or at least that have been corrected, to reinforce, positively, what the team did well. E.g., team loses 31-3, has 8 penalties for 75 yards. The next game, loses 28-7, but is only penalized 3 times for 20 yards, and doesn't turn the ball over. Particularly if those issues have been emphasized by the coaching staff, the HC might say, post-game, "Our offensive execution still needs to get better. Our defense played well at times, but a combination of defensive play-calling and lack of focus in the secondary hurt us, especially in the second half, which let the opposing team put the game out of reach. On the other hand, the fact that we committed only 3 penalties for 20 yards, and no turnovers in the game is a positive that we can take into practice next week."

I know it is a contextual response, but does that help?

I remember him beating Saban and Mich. State in the Independence Bowl in Shreveport. However, he beat Saban with Curly's players.

Once Miles starts bragging about kids graduating, its over. Graduating kids is gr8, but bragging about it is a bad sign(DiNardo was doing that in 1998).

Just one DiNardo memory I have.
